A Message from Event Director Paul Davies

On behalf of INCOSE UK, I invite you to join us in our Autumn Assembly. The theme – “Spreading the Word on Systems Engineering” – addresses our need, not just to preach to the converted, but to explore how complex systems are engineered in less familiar business areas.

There is a temptation in each industry to say “we know how to do systems engineering here, our problems are different to anybody else’s, people from other industries have nothing to teach us.”

One thing that working with INCOSE has taught me is that this is completely untrue – there are common patterns of problems, which are solved in diverse innovative ways throughout the UK. Some of them may not even be called Systems Engineering. The Assembly will host debates and workshop sessions to extract key lessons to take away for all of us, along with sessions aimed at improving the communication and codification of who we are and what we do.

We are delighted to welcome Heinz Stoewer, INCOSE President, to deliver a keynote presentation on diversification of systems engineering away from its aerospace and defence origins. We also encourage you to listen to Peter Fryer of trojanmice ltd, our after-dinner speaker at our event banquet, who will entertain us with “ The Emperor’s New Clothes”.
